Sunday morning, December 4th, Daniel came up to the house to help Kenneth pull the motor and transmission out of the El Camino. We were VERY fortunate to have made all 2,500 miles in the Power Tour this year and since we plan to do it again in 2017, Kenneth wanted to have the motor rebuilt and the transmission worked on. Neither have been worked on in decades (Kenneth and his Dad rebuilt the motor back in 1983 or 1984) so it's time. Everything is original to the car and we'd like to keep it "numbers matching". Kenneth wants more horsepower so he's having the small block 400 rebuilt to give it close to 350 HP (it came stock with 175HP) which means the transmission will have to be adjusted to handle it. He's also ordered some headers and has a Vintage Air air conditioning unit that he's going to install. While the motor is out and in the shop, he will be taking out the old A/C unit, cleaning up and painting everything under the hood. In a few months, not only will the old girl look good but she'll sound good, too!
