On Friday, June 10th (I know...I'm SO late with this post!), we loaded up in the 1976 SS El Camino and headed to south Louisiana for the Power Tour. We always hear about it, see the stickers in the windows at the car shows and watch it on TV and we finally got to participate!
Saw a hot air balloon over Cross Lake on our way |
Something you see a LOT of in south Louisiana-crawfish ponds! |
Our hotel was in Baton Rouge, about 15 miles north of where we were starting. We got there before check in time so we killed some time at the local Harley Davidson shop and when we asked there for a good spot to get a beer, they directed us right up the street to BurgerSmith. Good call, too...it was a great stop for some conversation and a local craft beer.
Best. Fries. EVER! Butter and garlic...and a nice, light local craft beer. |
We went to the dinner for VIPs Friday night at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales. Picked up our credentials, had some great local cuisine and met a few people that we'd be spending the next week with.
Worth every penny-we got special parking the whole tour! |
