Bike, Blues and BBQ

Last Thursday, September 22nd, the first day of autumn...Kenneth picked me up at work at noon and we headed north.  We thought it would be a nice, cool weekend of riding and a fun festival but we ended up dragging the heat with us!  It was in the 90s all weekend, but fortunately the rain that was predicted went away and we had beautiful sunshine so the heat was OK.  That's MUCH better than rain!  And the festival was still fun - rain or shine.

Headed north on Hwy. 1

Somewhere in Arkansas - love all the antiques in this picture!

Spent Thursday night in Ft. Smith, AR - he's thinking about hitting the road...

Riding the Pig Trail has always been something Kenneth wanted to do on a motorcycle.  Well, he got his chance Friday and it was beautiful!  And fun - it's a challenging ride and he really enjoyed it.

Traffic was stopped and we wondered why until we got a little farther down the road.  There had been an accident - three total accidents we saw while we were there - all motorcycles.  :(

Lunch stop!
Loaded pork nachos - YUM!

Outside our hotel window in Fayetteville - we're the only ones with a cover and we were the only ones who didn't have to wipe our bike down every morning!

Heading out in the morning for a day full of riding.

Check out this snazzy sidecar!!

Baum Stadium - venue for vendors and our Pin Stop.

Saturday we did the Devil's Den Trail and it was a lot of fun, too.  We picked up a map of all the rides in Arkansas so we will have many more weekend trips here!

Following are all just pictures from the road.  I love all the old buildings, obviously.  I just wonder about them - when they were brand new and families were using them, enjoying them and making memories in them.

Kenneth visited here when he was a kid and hiked the trail.  We opted not to.  It was so hot and we didn't have our shoes to change into.  I would love to do it one day, though.

Lunch stop at KT & Sons - a little Mom and Pop diner.

Three employees bustin' it to a full house!

Rollin' into the festival.

This church was offering free parking and free water.  They had a Christian band playing out front and a bunch of their members were picnicking on the lawn.  It was great!  We made a donation to their church instead of parking in a pay lot.

Some bikes....

Some blues...

And some BBQ!  These burnt ends were really good!!

Stop for drinks and some A/C!

Got up Sunday to another beautiful day and headed for home.

We shared the road with a lot of others headed for home, too.

Stopped in Mena for lunch.  We stopped here on the way home from the Power Tour, too.
