Easter weekend...

Daniel snapped this pic for me before we headed out.
What a beautiful weekend we had!  We started Good Friday off heading out for a ride.  We went and visited Charlie and Kathy at the nursing home and then headed to Shane's for some crawfish.  After dinner, we took the long way home.

Love seeing our shadow when we ride!!

Saturday morning found us heading out again to enjoy the beautiful weather.  We rode to Texarkana to the huge Harley shop there.  Found a bike that we considered buying but decided to hang on to the Road King a while longer!  From there, we headed to Burge's in Lewisville for lunch.  That brought back a lot of memories!  We used to stop there every Thanksgiving on our way to Tennessee.  The last time we were there, the kids were 13 and 10 but it still looks exactly the same.  On the way home, we stopped by Low Water Crossing, the McCormick's hunting camp.  We just hung out on the porch, enjoying the lovely view.  I see why they spend every weekend they can up there - it's gorgeous!

Pulling out for a ride

Didn't get it but it sure was tempting! I loved the colors.

The turkey is still the best I've had.

Kenneth enjoying....

...this fabulous view!  So peaceful...

We got home Saturday afternoon and Mum and Haley came over.  I baked a cake, made a chocolate pie and boiled some eggs for Sunday dinner.  We got up, had some breakfast and headed for church Sunday morning.  Afterwards, Kenneth's mom, sister and youngest great-niece joined us for Easter dinner.  It was a beautiful weekend full of riding, food, family and fun.  Thank You, Lord for providing for us and for dying on the cross for us...Hallelujah, He is Risen!!!

Lilah hid some eggs for Daniel to find...so sweet!

The Great Flood of 2016!!

On March 8, 2016 it started to rain and we got 10" of rain in 18 hours.  Daniel's neighborhood in Haughton has a drainage issue and the water came so fast that his house flooded that evening.  He ended up with about 4" of water in his house and he evacuated to our house where he will stay until he can get his house back in order.  The water came up so fast on Caddo Lake that we had the highest lake level since 1966!  I parked my Honda Pilot in the garage on Friday evening, March 11th and didn't get it out of our neighborhood until Tuesday, March 22nd!  The water got so high that we had to step into a boat in our back yard, boat around the back of our neighbor's yard to the road and tie off there to get out of our neighborhood.  Fortunately, Kenneth had his Toyota Tundra parked out front and Daniel had his little Audi parked there, too.  Some neighbors didn't get a vehicle out in time so we went to the grocery store one day and brought back groceries for some people.  We loaded them from the truck to the boat and took them to the porch of our next door neighbor.  They have a family staying with them whose house flooded down at the end of our neighborhood.  Theirs was the only house that flooded on our street.  Every morning, we would all load up in the boat and go to the front to get into our cars to go to work.  It was an inconvenience, but doable.  So many people lost everything and many did not have flood insurance (like Daniel) because they were not in what was considered a flood zone.  FEMA did step in and provide much needed assistance to those people without insurance (like Daniel) so they could get their homes repaired.  The water has receded and now the cleanup begins.  I created a Shutterfly book with all of my pictures but below are a few that I wanted to document here so I could keep it in this years happenings!March 10, 2016

Celebrating the Irish!

We left the house by boat last Friday (a flood post is coming soon!), parked by the street, got in the truck and headed for Texas to celebrate at the St. Patrick's Day parade in Dallas.

First stop was Auntie Skinners for lunch in Jefferson, TX...

Then on to McKinney for more food, drinks and laughs.
Saturday morning at 9:00am, we boarded the train bound for Greenville Ave. in Dallas.

We found a spot on the parade route and set up.

Lisa made sure we all had plenty of jello shots!
Cheers!!

Have a jello shot if you're Irish!

So many great floats!

Lisa was handing out jello again!

This sign read "Staggering Irishmen"!

Salute to our military...

Doug always has a crazy get-up!

After the parade, it was back to the Frye's for a cookout.  First we broke the door and Kenneth and Curt did some home repairs!

Changing out the doorknob.

Kenneth getting some wood split for the fire.

It's OK, Curt...you just relax...

Curt kept the fire going well into the night.  Thank goodness because we had a cold snap, for sure!

At Dodie's celebrating our 34th anniversary Sunday morning!

After lunch, we stopped at Cabela's and Sam's and headed home where, thankfully, we were able to drive through the water over the road.  It's still too high for my Pilot, but maybe Tuesday...

It was a wonderful anniversary weekend and I'm so thankful for my husband, family and friends!
