August, 2022

We're back up and running this month! Kenneth decided he was ready for a road trip, so for my birthday weekend to kick off August, we headed to our friends Jeanne and Eric's house in Mississippi for a visit then on to Tennessee to Jackie and Julie's BnB to finish up the weekend trip. Such a nice weekend getaway to start the month and a great way to break in the new knee! This month we had more beautiful sunsets, a retiree luncheon, another birthday, Wednesday night Bible studies, Bunco and ended with a wonderful baby shower for Sophia and Madison!! Such a great month full of so many things to be thankful for...we are truly blessed!

Went to eat at Taylor's Grocery with Jeanne and Eric. They said this is the most popular place to eat in Oxford so of course we had to go. The food, service and atmosphere were all great!

Kenneth loves whole catfish and he really enjoyed his dinner.

Passed this campus on the way out...like most big colleges, it was beautiful.

Deer grazing on the side of the road in Tennessee. The rest of their family was down the road.

This lookout onto the Tennessee River is within walking distance of the BnB

It was supposed to be raining our entire trip, but thankfully we only encountered a little rain one night.

Third stay here and we love it!

Enjoying a local beer at the marina for dinner

Such a nice, relaxing dinner on the water where we were joined by several turtles in the water waiting for a crumb or two, I suppose

Local bacon right around the corner from the BnB that we stopped at on the way out of town

I wish I could post the smell of this place here...it smelled so good!!

Such a nice guy and what an operation he has going here.

Some of the bacon we got to try. They ship so I will order more online!

My birthday coffee...😁

And my birthday breakfast!! Julie made me sausage gravy and biscuits at the BnB per my request and sent the leftovers home with us, so on my actual birthday, I had the leftovers, some Hitman Maple and Bourbon bacon and fresh eggs from Arvis and Pattie...doesn't get any better than that!

Then for lunch we tried to use our 2John's gift certificate that I won in the Gingerbread House raffle but they only serve lunch on Friday so we went to Monjuni's. Love their eggplant parmesan!

Went by Nothing Bundt Cakes and got my free birthday bundtlet...carrot cake...my fav!!

Ended the day in my recliner watching Little League baseball...what an awesome birthday I had this year!!

We couldn't get together on my birthday because Katie was working, but we all got together a few days later at Flying Heart. There's a new Crumbl Cookie location in town, so Sophia got some really yummy cookies for us to have. I celebrated my birthday all week! And I HAD to laugh at the table of girls behind us. When the waitress took my phone to take the picture and said everyone ready? The girls behind us all smiled and posed with us...too funny!! I'm going to have to remember to do this when I get a chance! 🤣🤣

Daniel walking Sophia to her car...love these two so much!!

LOOK at this picture of Madison!!!! Technology is so amazing these days. 💟

If you have a sister or a mother, you'll always get a pretty card for your birthday. I'm so blessed to have both!!

Getting ready for visits from Madison at my house!! Daniel's favorite stuffed animals from when he was a baby are ready for her, too!

Love seeing my extended family on Facebook! Our two handsome great-nephews, Noah and Grant.

Dinner at Walk Ons with Rita, Timothy and Sandy. Timothy, Sandy and Pam all came to town for Sophia's baby shower.

Kenneth eating a "healthy" breakfast...

Had an unusually cool evening one night so we watch the LLWS on the porch! My favorite baseball to watch. Forget the pros...these kids are all so good and they love the game.

The sunsets on Caddo are stunning

Retiree Luncheon at Ernest's Orleans Restaurant. The food was all so good and Kenneth had such a great time catching up with men he hasn't seen in years!

We kept Olive for the weekend while Daniel and Sophia went out of town. She is the sweetest little dog and we loved having her! I miss having a cat in my lap and it was so nice to have a little friend all weekend! They dropped her off at Mum's apartment and I picked her up after Katie and I got through with our running. She was so chill on the ride home!

Helping me get the treats out of her bag.

Posted up in the recliner with me and her blanket

It's Uncle Bob's birthday, so we headed to Catfish Village in Marshall for his birthday dinner. Shelley, Carter and Taran

Garreth, Bob, Peggy and Kenneth.

Ken and Shana

Birthday Bob and the lovely Peg

Olive was happy we got home before the storm! I put her Thunder Coat on and gave her half a CBD treat and she was chill the whole time.

Bunco at Betty's

With everyone in town, Kenneth fried fish for us all! Took every last package of filets he had in the freezer, but so thankful we had enough. The giant salvania has taken over the lake again and it's been so hot anyway, he hasn't done any fishing lately to stock up. Wildlife and Fisheries has sprayed the salvania and it's dying off, so hopefully fall fishing will be good.

They were all hugging and I asked them to strike a pose...four generations!!! And all Jaynes!!

Rita with her kids

Kaylie is on the varsity volleyball team so hopefully we'll get to go to some games. Kind of hard to do with my schedule, but I'll figure something out!

Amber hosted a baby shower for Sophia and as usual, everything was so nice!!

Sophia got so many nice things and a LOT of diapers!!

Meredith, Katie and Laura...so happy these friends are all back in one town again!!

Sandy won the diaper raffle!

What a beautiful shower for a beautiful mama to be!!
