Hunting Season 2018

Kenneth has been on a deer lease about 15 minutes from the house for several years now.  Many days hunting are spent just watching nature from the deer stand.  When he kills one deer, his hunting season is over.  All he wants is enough deer meat to fill his freezer for the year and since he's the only one who eats it, one deer is plenty.  Well, he just texted me and said his hunting for the season is already over after only two times on the stand this year!  Thank You, Lord for providing for our family.  I'm sure we'll share some of this meat with other family members.  We are blessed...:)

October random happenings...

I talk about my job and the awesome family I work for.  Charles, center, hired me back in 1993.  Little did I know I'd be here all these years later and now working for him and his sons, Matt and Josh.  They went hunting in Canada at the beginning of October.  They are all wonderful men and I can't imagine working for anyone else...:)

Mum went to spend a couple of weeks up north with Jenny and I picked her up at the airport on the 9th.  Happy to have her back home!

They've FINALLY opened I-49 and this makes our getting around town so much easier!!

I completed seven weeks of physical therapy on my left shoulder.  It was the hardest thing ever!

One of our after-therapy dinners - this burger at Walk-ons was ridiculous!

The lottery got up to a record $1.6 billion...and no.  We did not win.

Kenneth is putting all kinds of fun things on his new truck!  Here is the new bed cover.

Mum got tired of her hardwood floors and put this beautiful rug down. Haley likes it much better because she was always slipping and sliding on the wood!

Always love it when he comes and visits...:)

He's here for another visit on Halloween because Grandma was staying the night to take us to the airport the next day.

And he brought us ice cream!!  GMa dishing it out...

Although we had no trick or treaters, Daniel was ready!!

Another fun charity ride we like to do!

On Saturday, October 27th, we hopped on the bike and headed to McKinney.  Lisa reminded me that this was the weekend for the Collin County Teddy Bear Run.  They collect new teddy bears and other stuffed animals for the police to distribute to abused children throughout the year.  It's sad that there is a need, but there is and we certainly feel this is a good cause to support.  It was a beautiful weekend, we had police escorts along the highways and at the intersections and there had to be a thousand bikes participating!  We always enjoy getting together with our Texas friends and had a wonderful weekend with them!

As usual, we had a wonderful grilled meal waiting for us and then drinks, fire pit and football for the evening relaxing.

Curt had some new whiskey for us to try

The bears are ready to ride!!

Such a beautiful day to be on the bikes

Bill Smith's for breakfast where the waitress had some fun with Kenneth...told her that little thing of syrup wouldn't be enough and she brought that giant one!

This was the little area we were in.  We were towards the end of the line up.

Enjoyed a beautiful ride afterwards

Snuffer's for lunch in Greenville

And another beautiful ride home...thank You, Lord for safe travels, good friends and beautiful weather!

Burn Run

The weekend of October 13th, Curt and Lisa came over and we participated in the Camp I'm Still Me Burn Benefit.  We've done this several years now and I am so happy to support this cause.  All proceeds go to the local children's burn camps.  The weather was VERY iffy but we made it through the Poker Run and walked through all the booths.  On the way home was a different story...we got caught in the rain, but it could have been a lot worse.  We got wet and the roads were really slick but the good Lord got us back to the house safe.  After a hot shower and some dinner, we spent the rest of the evening watching football, visiting and drinking on the back porch.  Great weekend!

Fun to see them both sitting in the garage!

Hit a few sprinkles on the way over to Jefferson

No rain in Jefferson!

Checking in at one of the Poker Run stops

Everyone is always ahead of me...:)

Johnson's Ranch.  Passed this place dozens of times on the water. First time I've been here on land!

Lots of great places for Poker Run stops this year!

The Lighthouse Grill.  This was one of the stops and also a great place to take a break and have a beer!

As many times as we have ridden all over east Texas, we never knew this little place was here!

Selecting cards - and none of us had a decent poker hand!  Good thing.  We headed out right after this to try to beat the rain.

Signs we followed all day!  Looking forward to seeing them again next year!

October 7th family reunion

On Sunday afternoon, a small group of family gathered in Marshall, TX for a reunion.  Kenneth fried fish, I made crawfish etouffee, Bob smoked chicken and everyone brought so many side dishes that we were all stuffed before the afternoon was over!  It's always good to get together with our extended family.

Daniel brought me this shirt and it fit perfectly!

Kenny, Bob and Peggy...and their beautiful little T-Bird in the background!

Carl and Sandy came down from Arkansas

Kenneth working hard, as usual!
