Busier now than when he worked!

As I was getting ready to leave for work this morning, Kenneth came out ready to leave, too.  It seems he hasn't really had a chance to let retirement sink in as busy as he is!  First, it was getting the El Camino ready for the Power Tour, then it was the Power Tour, now he's found that the Wheelchair Ramp Ministry takes up anywhere from one to three days a week.  Every Tuesday, the men meet to scout the next location, measure, buy materials and whatever else needs done to get ready for the next build.  Last week he went out on Friday to repair one and Saturday went to build one.  He's been working on his Mom's car, taking care of paperwork, running errands, helping neighbors and doing chores around the house.  I'm thankful he's a hard worker and a good provider - he takes such good care of me and our family!
Enjoy your retirement, Kenneth - you've earned it!!
Look who is going to go riding without me!

Daniel's birthday!!

I was so happy we got home in time to celebrate Daniel's birthday!!  We all met at Shogun for a wonderful meal - four different kinds of sushi, meals of scallops, shrimp, filet mignon, salmon and lots of fried rice!  It's always so special when we can gather, enjoy each others company and eat!

Daniel and his grandmothers - GMa was trying some sushi!

She wasn't a fan...

Our chef was quite entertaining!

Watching the show the chef was putting on.

Katie always has a smile for her Mama!!

I can tell you he was NOT trying to steal any sushi from me!

I think we all took food home - the portions are ridiculously large!!

I LOVE this picture!!!

Happy birthday, Daniel!!  We are all so blessed to have you in our lives...xoxo

Headed home from the Power Tour

It was a whirlwind, long, hot, fun week and I would do it all over again!  What a wonderful time we had!  We went to so many places we've never been before, met some great people and got to check the Hot Rod Power Tour off of our bucket list!  I thought I'd sweat off 10 pounds, but didn't...:(

Coming through Arkansas

Lunch stop at a really good steakhouse!

Welcome to Louisiana!!

Next exit - HOME!!!

It's official - LONG HAULER!!!

Got it all washed and waxed - ready for the next adventure...:)

HRPT - Day 7 - Kansas City, Kansas

Headed out for our last day of the Power Tour!  Last day of jumping up and packing up and taking off as early as possible to beat the heat and get in line with the other cars.

Kenneth going over the route while I pack everything up.
This turned out to be the most beautiful drive of the whole Power Tour.  I said I loved Kansas and this drive just did it for me!  I wanted to take hundreds more pictures, but just decided to sit back and enjoy the view.  It was such pleasant weather and we drove through so many shady back roads.

That's Michelle and Carl behind us.  We rode with them this last day.

Cars going around the bend.

Cars this far in front and this far behind - it was so much fun!

Loved this handmade stone wall.  Who knows how old it is.

Standard Oil sign in small town Kansas

This was an old schoolhouse - very cool.

Old fire truck in one of the little towns

Brick streets - goodness, I could drive thought these towns forever!

Rolling into Kansas Speedway

Carl and Michelle's car
We got to the venue around 12:30, clocked in and went to some vendor booths.  Since the long haulers events were starting until about 5:30, we decided to go get some Kansas City barbeque, cold beer and some air conditioning!
Carl, Michelle, Elaine and Kenneth - photo op at Famous Dave's
This really was some good BBQ!

I've always seen "burnt ends" on competition BBQ cook-offs, but never tried them.  My goodness, they were good!

Does he ever stop clowning around?  The answer would be "no"...

Some pictures Michelle took of the El Camino rolling down the highway!

Kenneth holding the umbrella for me.  I didn't get burned the whole trip!
