Let's get April out of the way!

Here are a few more things that made April fun!

LOVE my workout group and trainer!  Staying healthy and fit has never been fun for me, but now I enjoy it.

Curt came over for a weekend when Lisa went out of town and he and Kenneth fished.  They caught enough for a fish fry one evening!

Katie's last night of crawfish.  She left for her new assignment in Minnesota and am I ever missing her!!

Curt joined us. A storm blew in and we all scrambled into the teeny, tiny building at Drift In to finish our crawfish!

Happy Secretary's Day to me!!  I work for the absolute best family on the planet!!!

Kenneth and I went shopping for a few things we needed for our beach vacation and had this awesome dinner.  Adios, April 2018 - you've been fun!

Run with the Nuns 2018

Saturday morning, April 28th, was a beautiful one to start out on the motorcycle! We met Milton and Jill at Elsie's and headed to Silver Star Smokehouse in Bossier City to meet up with about 300 other riders for Run with the Nuns.  They really put on a great event - guided ride with police escorts, breakfast, lunch, 50/50 raffles and very nice raffle items.  All of the proceeds benefit at-risk children right in our own area so it's all for a very good cause.  This is the first year Milton and Jill rode and hopefully they'll be back because we enjoyed hanging out with them!  The ride was great and I got really lucky this year - I won one of the 50/50 raffles and a prize package with some awesome items!  Looking forward to the next ride...:)

They said it's been a while since they rode - so happy they joined us this year!

Love getting to ride with this guy...:)

The blessing of the bikes as we roll out.

Bikes in front of us...

...bikes behind us!

Several different law enforcement agencies blocked intersections and led us along the way.

Unfortunately, a dog ran out in front of one of the lead motorcycles and caused the rider to wreck.  Rider was OK, bike damaged but the dog didn't make it.  Leash laws exist for a reason. It's scary when riding to have dogs and other critters run out in front of you.  Thankfully, we've been able to avoid the ones we've come in contact with thanks to Kenneth!

One of the Bossier Sheriff's officers helping us out.

Enjoying lunch while listening for our name to be called out for a raffle item.

We went for a ride around Bodcau Dam, one of our old stomping grounds, after RWTN.  Spent nine hours on the bike this beautiful day and had a blast!

My haul for the day - put some cash back into the donation jar at the event and still had some left for our vacation!

Galveston with a lifelong friend

Back in April, I headed out on Friday the 13th (good thing I don't believe in that stuff!) for Galveston, TX to meet up with Renee, my best friend in Pennsylvania before I moved to Louisiana in 1979.  I guess we met somewhere around 1976 and have somehow stayed in touch WITHOUT social media ever since!  Although we have lived full lives, put on a few years and it seems only I have put on a few pounds, she is the same sweet girl I remember from all those years ago.  We laughed, talked, walked (oh, my - over 15,000 steps each day according to her FitBit!), drank some wine, ate some wonderful food, toured a couple of houses and maybe drank a little more wine.  It was so awesome to see her again, spend some time together and make new memories.  Thanks, Renee, for finding such a great Air BnB to stay at and arranging our weekend - already looking forward to our next reunion!

Rolling across the causeway into Galveston

The house Renee found for us - so cute and perfect for the two of us!

When the house was remodeled, they found this old stuff in the walls - very cool!

We piled our food up here in the kitchen and loaded the wine cooler as soon as we got there.

It turned out to be way too cold to be on the beach.  This was as close as we got! This was our first night there and we ended up wearing jackets the rest of the weekend.

Friday night dinner here and was it ever good.  We had an ocean view with our dinner and drinks.

Lunch Saturday here at Shykatz.  Nice local hangout with fantastic food.

Shykatz grilled cheese with tomato (Oh, my - it was SO good!) and tomato basil soup.  The chunks of tomato and whole basil leaves made it the best I've ever had - so fresh!

The Bishop's Palace was right up the street from our house.

Although we toured two houses, this is the only one I took pictures of as it was magnificent.

Going up the back stairs

Beautiful stained and leaded glass throughout the entire house.

This is what you saw when you walked in the front door.

Saturday night dinner at Olympia Grill-nice Greek restaurant right on the water.

Found out I really like Greek food! We ate, chatted and watched all the activity in the port-wonderful evening!

Breakfast at The Mosquito CafĂ© - again, wonderful food!  So enjoyed my time with this beautiful lady...:)
