Seattle visit with Katie

So going back to last year...at the beginning of November, 2018 we boarded a plane in Shreveport and by the end of the day we were on a ferry crossing the Puget Sound in Washington state!  What an experience - the views in the Pacific Northwest are stunning and the best part was...we were with our girl!!  It had only been three months since she left, but it felt like a lot longer.  She lives in a great apartment with a hotel right across the street that we stayed in.  Several things she had planned for us were the Space Needle, Wings Over Washington, a tour of the destroyer USS Turner Joy, a distillery/brewery tour and tasting on Bainbridge Island, a lock and dam boat tour and several of her favorite restaurants.  We also took a ride down to Oregon and had lunch with one of my Words With Friends friends that I've been playing with for years - the first one of the few "strangers" that I play regularly I've ever met!  We had such a wonderful time and it was hard to leave her again (I teared up coming and going), but we'll see her again soon.

Mum spent the night and took us to the airport early Thursday morning.  Haley enjoyed the ride!

Saw my friend, Corrine, at the Shreveport airport and ran into her again at the Dallas airport!  She was headed to Norway to visit her family.

KATIE!!!!  Waiting for the ferry from Seattle to Bremerton.

Got out of the car on the ferry to take in the views.  It got pretty chilly so we didn't stay out long!

Katie's car behind all the motorcycles

Dinner the first night at the Horse and Cow Pub and Grill.  So many places within walking distance.

Headed to her apartment in the snazzy, newly remodeled building

Didn't take him long to find his spot...even if it meant kicking Katie out of her chair!

We left Kenneth sleeping in the chair and went to the Fred Meyer!

Leaving the Bremerton port which was also walking distance from the hotel

We rode the ferry every day and it never got old.  Kenneth had a lot to look at.

On our first ride this beautiful rainbow stayed in the sky almost the entire trip.  At one point there was a faint second one.

All these folks herd on and off this ferry every day for work and play.  Old hat to them, but quite an experience for me!

Shopping with Katie is always fun!

Views from the Space Needle

He sat in this chair and let the rotation of the Needle take him around to see all the views!

Wings Over Washington beginning.

When we got in and strapped down, I snapped a pic and got into trouble - no photos!!  If you ever go to Seattle, do this!  It was great...probably one of  Kenneth's favorite things we did.

Elaine and Kenneth with the big ferris wheel.  That's about all of it we wanted.

Katie and I slipped off during another one of Kenneth's naps/TV times to visit Poulsbo.  A really cute little town, but so crowded we couldn't even find a parking spot.  No lie.  No parking anywhere so no shopping for us.

Instead we went and ate sushi!!!

On our way to tour the USS Turner Joy

Kenneth enjoying another ferry ride

Yummy lunch at Ivar's before the Lock and Dam Tour

Headed into the lock

Very interesting house boat community

Seattle from the other side after our tour.  The boat took us all the way around the city and we had to take a bus back to the ferry terminal.

Beautiful sunset over Puget Sound

Bremerton ferry terminal all lit up

Saw a sign for Multnomah Falls and thought this was it, but there were SO MANY!!  So pretty...

Riding along the Columbia River

We kept crossing from Oregon to Washington, Washington to Oregon

Skamania Lodge where we met Bill and Wendy for lunch.  Gorgeous views of which I failed to take any pictures of.

Bill, Wendy, Katie, Elaine and Kenneth...you can see a part of that stunning view!! Fun lunch with new, old friends!

This bridge was featured in the movie "Wild".

After lunch, a little shopping...

And a little gambling with some winning!!

The local brewery makes this beer for the Line and Lure Restaurant at the casino.  It's the only place you can get it and it was a really good beer.

Katie got chicken and waffles on the way to the airport.  It was enough chicken for her breakfast and three more meals!

Two more states added!!

Here are a few pics of our tour of the USS Turner Joy...
