Last day of the month...

Saturday, September 30th, found us on the motorcycle headed to a car show in Natchitoches.  The cooler temperatures are starting and I actually needed my jacket when we headed out in the morning.  By the time we headed back, though, we were in the 90s.  Beautiful ride down, lots and lots of great cars to look at, four live bands playing throughout the venue, had a wonderful meal and a great ride home.  It's always fun when we "spur of the moment" get to do something!  And it's very unusual to have a Saturday at home when Kenneth isn't building a wheelchair ramp so this was an unexpected, fun day.

Getting ready to head out

Went over the Red River Revel that's happening in Shreveport this week.

The cotton fields are all in full bloom!!

The clouds looked so cool all morning!!

Great venue for a car show and there were probably 250 cars!

One of the bands set up along the way

Another band farther down the street

First time eating at this place...

HAVE to get Natchitoches meat pies when in Natchitoches, LA!!  I had shrimp and grits for lunch that were really good, too!

Oldest general store still in operation in Louisiana and they had everything!  Kenneth loved browsing this place.

Right on the Cane River - had a wonderful day here!

Random September happenings...

What a fun month September, 2017 was!  Here are a few more things that made it memorable...

Went to Dinner and a Movie with the Northpoint ladies...such a fun night at the Boardwalk in Bossier City!

The group of ten and since I just met three of them, I don't remember all the names...isn't that terrible?!  We did have a nice evening, though, even if my memory is lacking as far as names go, I DO remember that!!

Shopped and shopped for Mum a little storage cabinet for her bedroom and finally found one.  Of course, assembly was required and even though that is not my field of expertise, I managed to get it together! Works beautifully and she loves it.

Haley got a new harness and you'd have thought we beat her with it the way she looks!  She loves it now, though, because it latches around her chest and doesn't choke her.

The lovebugs were CRAZY ridiculous this year!  Thick as rain for a whole month and every day, my sweet husband would wash them off my vehicle.  The acid in their bodies will pit the paint so he kept the vehicles clean.

Had coupons to go eat at the casino buffet and free gambling money so off we went!!

Crawfish E-two-ways at Walk Ons...SO DELISH!!!  Mum's shrimp po-boy was pretty good, too...:)

Finally got this window fixed after sixteen years broken...Daniel wanted to see how close to the house he could hit a golf ball back in 2001 before we had the porch screened in.  Turns out, he got it pretty darn close and broke just the outside pane of glass on this double-paned storm window!  There were cobwebs in the broken one and you couldn't see out of it!

This was fun to see on my Facebook feed!

The water company is replacing all the water lines in our neighborhood and we've been dodging equipment all month.

Mum and I went to see a play at the Shreveport Little Theater!

Our Georgia family came to see us and we got to spend the evening with them!

Kenneth went to Dallas to help Curt put a back porch cover on their house.  This is them out on the town one evening.

A friend of Daniel's since grade school, Cody, and his wife had a little girl!  Daniel looks pretty comfortable holding a baby...:)

Mum and I went chair shopping and this is what she picked.  Plenty of room for her and Haley!

Tableside guacamole...YUM!!!

Some family pics courtesy of my sister...

Mum stayed with Jenny for two weeks in August and they did lots of visiting with family.  She sent just a few shots she took.  The visited with Sarah, Grady, Ernie, Courtney, Grant, Noah, Mike, Big Ernie and Donna, and a few more but these are the only pictures I guess she took because that's all she sent me!

Wish I could've been there to join in the fun!!!

Women in the Outdoors

September 15-17, I went to the Louisiana Women in the Outdoor event in Bunkie, LA.  Kenneth dropped me off at Heather's apartment Friday morning and I rode with her.  I prefer to drive my car, but she taught the jelly making class and had all of her equipment packed in her car so I rode this time.  There were several times over the weekend I wished I had my own vehicle, but I survived.  It was a great event and I made several new friends, learned new things and had a blast!  I won lots of things - home décor, mugs, jelly, a dressy scarf, a Ruger .243 rifle; made some things - a walking stick, a wooden spoon, bottle cap wind chimes; and ate some really good food prepared by the husbands of some of the women putting on the event.  I took six classes - archery, wood carving, kayaking, self defense, sport clay shotgunning and bottle cap art.  I shared a cabin with nine other women and we survived with only two showers, two toilets and three sinks!  We played silly games and bingo Friday night and had raffle drawings, a photo booth and a really good band Saturday night and Heather and I stopped an old college eatery she used to frequent when she went to Northwestern in Natchitoches on the way home.  What a fun weekend I had!!

Got there early enough to get the bottom bunk, thank goodness!!

Liz with our cabin mascot!

My crazy bunkmates who dressed up in the Wild West theme for the weekend.  Heather and I are not ones to dress up...:/

Our archery instructors

Look at that form...!!  I've only shot a compound bow once before and I shot better this time.

I was actually hitting the target!!!!

Wendy is a new friend - she was a travel nurse in 2000 and is going to school now to be a PA.

Heather removing her arrows from the target.

Crazy games

This is David.  He taught the wood carving class.  I spent a LOT of time at this table because in between classes, after meals - any free time I had - I sat here and worked with the wood and found that I loved it!

Starting on my walking stick

This is me with Evelyn and David.  Evelyn took the class last year and bought herself a set of tools.  I really enjoyed spending time with these two.

The food was all so good and the company was very enjoyable.

Suzette, our kayaking instructor.  Such a sweet, sweet lady - enjoyed her a lot!

And what fun we had on the water!  First time for me to kayak (no photo evidence of me, tho) and I loved it!

Took a few trips across the pond and back to get the hang of it, but it was great.

Our whole class taken after we learned some sweet self defense moves!  I worked with the couple next to me and they were great!

Cypress City band - they played some really good music.

Bridgette, Suzette, Wendye, me and Evelyn - we all liked the wood working!

Crazy girl...

The end to a fun, fun trip!  Thanks for inviting me, Heather!
