Looking for fall...again...

We headed out about 1:00 last Friday, November 4th to meet up with Curt and Lisa in Hugo, OK.  The leaves weren't quite ready the previous weekend and Lisa emailed me early in the week to see if we wanted to ride with them so of course we were in!  The Lord didn't disappoint - weather was perfect and we found some color!  Kenneth and I rode all over the east Texas countryside before meeting up with them in Paris, TX at Chili's for dinner.  After dinner, we headed to Hugo for the night.  We got up Saturday morning and rode north to Robbers Cave and then over to the Talimena Scenic Byway and on down to Broken Bow for the night.  We got up Sunday morning and went through Beaver's Bend State Park and then back down through Texas.  We were headed to Muddy Jack's Sports Bar to catch the first half of their Dallas Cowboys game and my Pittsburgh Steelers game, but there was a storm to the west and it was moving in pretty quick so they headed west and we headed east.  Thankfully, we all go home safe and dry after a wonderful weekend of riding!

I've never stayed in a $42 hotel...
Bathroom was clean and the tub was, too
Beds were clean and comfortable enough
Pulled the bikes right up to our doors!

We WERE a little concerned the ceiling would buckle on us.  Kenneth found a piece of the ceiling in his drink!

Diner where the locals eat - always the best place in town!

And there's Angie who never stopped running while we were there.

Wish I had gotten a picture of "Uncle John" who entertained us with story after story while we waiting for our food.  Great old guy - a USMC Vietnam veteran.

Discussing Saturday's route after breakfast

I'm just going to call this Lake Hugo.  It looked so beautiful with the calm water and that sky...

We saw deer and dogs on the side of the road. Gotta be alert...

The clouds were amazing the whole weekend!  I've never seen such sky views so there are going to a lot of pictures of the sky!!

You can see the bikes between the rocks.

This would be as close as I hope I ever get to a copperhead!

Ate in Mena at the Branding Iron and parked in front of this little place to walk around the car show we stumbled upon.

Hand cranking the car to start it...

Hotel in Broken Bow...

Much better than the $42 a night room!!  This one was free with my points, though...:)

A cat climbed under our cover Saturday night...I guess trying to get out of the cold!

Left hotel around 9:15 and the air temperature was 57...going 60 mph it was a bit chillier!

Curt on the pier and Kenneth on the deck.

Went in search of fall colors and this is my neighbors yard!  Little bit of color right here.

On my way to work...more pretty colors.
