Searching for fall colors

Kenneth and I took off on the motorcycle after he got back from the wheelchair ramp building Saturday and headed to Arkansas to see if the leaves had started putting on their autumn show.  There is definitely a bit of color coming through but we'll have to take another trip in the next couple of weeks to see the full show, I think!  It was an absolutely beautiful weekend although it got to 89 degrees on the way home Sunday which is NOT what Arkansas is supposed to be like on October 30th!  The forecast had called for a high of 81, but it got quite a bit warmer...but as long as there was no rain, it was certainly OK with us.  These first five pictures are out of order.  They were taken in a little town called Plainview, AR on our way home Sunday.

This was some sort of façade for a park - Kenneth figured they had festivals here.  It was really fun to see, though and looked like a great place for a family gathering or picnic or a lazy Sunday afternoon...

Leaving out Saturday

This was all cotton a month ago...

Apparently they haven't gotten to this field yet.

If we had known there was racing going on this weekend, we may have stayed in town!

Of COURSE we stopped at Burge's if we're going that way!

Love these houses made of natural stone.

We love staying at the Baymont on Lake Hamilton - such a nice hotel and beautiful views!

Pirate's Cove Putt Putt - we used to take the kids here years ago!

Found a new place on the lake right by the hotel with really great food and view.

This guy caught a pretty big catfish

Sunrise view from our hotel room Sunday morning

Usually in Hot Springs, I focus on the bath houses or restaurants or the usual touristy things but this trip I seemed to be noticing really cool buildings in town and the murals.  I never really paid much attention to all the murals that grace the walls of these old buildings!

And then we got out of town into the trees - I tried to catch some of the beauty but pictures don't do it justice.

And into the curves...

Hot Springs Village where we stayed on Labor Day

Made a stop at Lake Nimrod - really nice place to rest and drink some water.

We stopped here on our way home for lunch - great pizza at a great price!

Their fall decorations were beautiful

Love seeing the road stretching out before us...:)

All the cows were up and feeding on the way home and...

...according to the old timers, that means the fish are feeding, too!

So as soon as we got home, Kenneth headed out fishing!
