HRPT - Day 2 - Baytown, Texas

Up early again to get on the road.  This is not going to be a relaxing, lay around type vacation.  It's go, go, go on the Power Tour!  The planned routes are through back-road, small town America.
Making more friends in the hotel parking lot

The "air conditioning"...12V fan that actually worked pretty darn good!

Got our first scratch in Gonzales.  Pretty sure someone walking by bumped it with a chair or bag accidentally.  Everyone is really careful around car shows usually, but accidents do happen.

Cloud cover made for a cool morning, thank the Lord!

We saw SO many bridges on the way to Baytown!

An old drawbridge

And another...

More bridges.

South Louisiana cemeteries have always fascinated me.

Everything above ground

Avery Island - where Tabasco is made!
More crawfish ponds!
Something I never even thought of or expected:  All the small towns we went through were expecting us!  Everywhere we went, people were set up waiting for us to roll through.  The Power Tour is billed as the world's largest, rolling car show and we found that to be true.  The Power Tour folks have to plan everything in advance, including letting the local town councils and law enforcement know that their little towns are about to double, even triple, in population for a couple hours!  There were people set up in chairs, under tents, with ice chests waiting to wave as we went by.  It was the coolest thing and probably my favorite part of the Power Tour.  Even in rural areas where there was a house every three miles, there may be one old guy in a chair with his classic car parked next to him, waving as we passed.  Sometimes the whole family, sometimes a kid on a four wheeler but everyone was waiting to watch the cars go by and wave - I loved it!!

We also discovered that no matter where it was, EVERY auto parts store we passed had one or more Power Tour cars parked in the lot!
