Tuesday, August 9th

Every morning we were up and on the road by 8:00.  This day was no different and we had more beautiful weather!  Headed for The Badlands today.

Beginning to see the landscape change

Kenneth decided this was part of an old railroad track.

Who in the world lives out here in this wilderness??

We had been riding for miles and Curt pulls off at a building that doesn't even look like it's open and nobody is there except for a couple of guys out front working on some tarps.  Kenneth wondered why we were stopping at this deserted place instead of somewhere we could get gas and drinks.  Meanwhile, Curt has disappeared inside and hasn't come out so I go in and he's sitting at the bar with a beer!  He asked, "Need a cold beer, Elaine?" and of course I sat down and joined him.  The rest of our bunch came in and joined us, the owner had a fresh batch of popcorn cooked up so we visited with him and the two cute bartenders, ate popcorn and enjoyed our drinks!  We were the only ones there but by the time we left, there wasn't an empty seat in the house.  We always seemed to bring the crowds...:)  Happy that Curt decided to stop at this deserted little place...it was one of the most memorable of the trip!

The Horseshoe Bar and Casino...and the sweetest lil bartenders!!

There's our dollar bill - front and center!

Thank goodness Curt was in the lead because we would've never stopped here!

Prairie dogs!!

After the Badlands, it was on to the world famous Wall Drug Store in Wall, SD.  It was more like a mall, though!  We had a nice stop here - lunch was good and the break was needed!

Back at the Harley Davidson shop in Rapid City to look at seats, but didn't get one.

Another storm brewing, so we headed back to the campground so Lisa and I could get our work done.  I had payroll to do and bills to pay and she had plans to approve so we got back and worked for a couple of hours then enjoyed the Olympics and visiting around the fire...

The deer were even hurrying home to get out of the weather!  Ran right across the road in front of us.
