Holy Angels got a visit from Santa!

I picked up Betty on Saturday, December 17th and we met Whitney, Creighton and Remy at Cane's for lunch.  Then on to Holy Angels Residential Facility to meet with Santa and help him deliver Christmas to the residents that didn't get to go home for the holidays.  Holy Angels is an independent licensed residential training facility serving approximately 185 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities whose ages range from newborn to older adults primarily from across Louisiana and from Texas.  Holy Angels provides clients opportunities to live in the most independent settings in homes integrated in the community. In addition, individuals with behavior or medical needs are served on the campus in specialized programs.  AngelWorks Day Program provides participants jobs in culinary arts, business services, horticulture, and creative arts.  Santa is a friend who has visited here for over 20 years and I try to join when I can.  It is such a joy to see the happiness in the residents faces and the excitement with which they receive Santa and his hugs.  Local businesses donate cookies, socks and bagged fruit for everyone and after the gifts are handed out and the cookies eaten, the music starts and the party is on!  They all dance and laugh to the music and have the best time!  What a wonderful facility...the residents all seem so happy and love the aides that serve them.  It was a blessing to be able to help this year...one of my many Christmas joys.
