Yellowstone National Park

We opted to drive the truck to Yellowstone Thursday, 8/21 because it was a two hour drive and it was raining!  The weather report initially said it was going to only rain in the morning and clear up, but we all know the weathermen are not to be trusted!  It was still a beautiful drive and Yellowstone did not disappoint with it's beauty, even in misty, dreary weather!  We saw a buffalo, elk, geese and a beautiful bald eagle along with, of course, Old Faithful.  I really expected a 120' geyser to erupt, but maybe we just didn't sit there long enough.  We did get what everyone thought was the eruption, because we all got up and left afterwards.

Glad we got Kenneth's lifetime pass...$35 admission if you go.

Kenneth finally got to see some elk!  Now we need to see some bighorn sheep!

Geese

Bald Eagle-third one I've seen on this trip, but this is the only one I got a pic of and it's not really that great!

It's crazy how the earth just smokes.  I wonder what the Native Americans and the settlers thought when they saw this!

These geyser fields were not pretty - muddy, foamy and sulfur smell. I was happy to just get pictures from the truck.

All of the following are Old Faithful...just sitting there and then erupting...?

This may have been higher than I thought, but I was expecting more for some reason.

So of course we had to get the selfie with Old Faithful!

Ever watch "Homestead Rescue"?  Marty and Misty were headed into the General Store while we were headed out.  You can miss that signature white hat of Marty's.

Stopped at The Buffalo Bar for dinner after our tour of the park.  Another great day!
